Chatuchak Market in Bangkok at dawn
HUCK.1980

We started in one aisle of Chatuchak Market, on a Saturday, looking for a shirt that did not exist any more. Everything you buy from us is found the same way it was found that morning — by walking, by touching the cloth, by arguing gently over a price with someone who has been selling fabric longer than we have been alive. We buy a bolt because it is good, not because it is repeatable, and when the bolt is finished the piece is finished with it. That is the whole business. There is no warehouse in another country, no second run, no restock email. A volume goes up, forty of each piece, and three weeks later the page goes dark and stays dark. We photograph everything in the same light we found it in, we wash and dry every garment on a line before it is boxed, and we send it from Bangkok with a tracking number and our actual email address on the invoice. If something arrives wrong, you will be talking to the person who bought the cloth.
